The youth leaders plan and run the troop's program. To meet this goal, training is needed for each position. When a Scout is elected or agrees to be one of the Troop's officers, it is expected that they will attend the training sessions provided. Training sessions will be scheduled soon after the elections are held.
Furthermore, the following positions make up what is called the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC);
- Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)
- Asst. Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL)
- Patrol Leaders (PL) (or Asst. Patrol Leader if the PL can't attend)
- Troop Scribe (TS)
The purpose of the PLC meeting is to plan the upcoming meetings and the main event for the month. One of the goals of Scouts BSA is to have a Scout led troop.
